Perspectives,
Vol. 3, No. 7
As
this issue of Perspectives comes out, we are stepping into
year 2003. Thanks to the participation of our authors and
readers, we believe that Perspectives has in 2002 played a
positive role in facilitating discussions and bridging differences,
and we will continue to do so in the coming years.
The
last issue of 2002 contains six articles on various topics.
Under "Debate," Ronald Dworkin and Liufang Fang
present two different views on the values, approaches and
moral responsibilities of Chinese intellectuals and academic
game in general. The two articles show how important, and
sometimes how challenging, it is for people with different
cultural backgrounds and living in different environments
to exchange ideas and bridge differences. Under "International,"
David Gosset broadens our view on Europe-China relations.
Under "Law," joining an ongoing debate, Albert Chen
thoroughly analyzes Article 23 of Hong Kong's Basic Law and
adds important insights to the debate. Also under "Law,"
Qi Li et. al. present a survey of the fast-growing legal profession
in Shanghai and discuss whether and how it should conform
to the international practice. Finally, under "Political
Theory and Practice," Junhua Zhang reviews China's e-government,
a phenomenon that, to date, is little understood.
As
always, we hope you enjoy this issue of Perspectives and welcome
your comments, suggestions and article contributions.
Best
wishes for the New Year!
