
OYCF held its 9 th annual meeting on May 25-27, 2007 , at the University of Michigan , Ann Arbor . The meeting, titled “Cultural Production and Consumption in Contemporary China,” included six panels on topics ranging from the political and economic conditions of cultural production, to the roles of art and culture in identity-formation, nation-building and social activism, and to the personal and social experiences they shape in contemporary China. The meeting was co-sponsored by the Center for Chinese Studies at the University of Michigan , and in coordination with the student organization Michigan China Fellows. About sixty scholars, students, and professionals attended the meeting.
